Multi-Test Pro Receptacle Analyzer System
Silicon Engines has developed an electrical test system which is available for licensing to a qualified marketer of electrical test equipment.
Transmitter and Receiver
The Multi-Test Pro consists of two elements — a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter plugs into a standard 120-volt AC receptacle. Bright LED lamps indicate whether the receptacle is wired correctly. Two pushbuttons are provided — for testing both GFCI and AFCI circuit breakers.
Arc Fault Circuit Breaker Tester
The AFCI pushbutton launches a series of simulated arc faults to trip an AFCI circuit breaker. The National Electrical Code requires that Arc Fault Circuit Interrupters must be installed in the sleeping quarters of new residential construction projects effective January, 2002. Arc faults are caused by defective insulation and faulty connections, and are thought to be responsible for hundreds of dangerous fires every year. The Multi-Test Pro transmitter is the first compact AFCI tester available.
GFCI
The GFCI pushbutton injects a ground fault current into the receptacle wiring, to test a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter — typically found in residential bathrooms to protect consumers against a shock hazard caused by faulty insulation or ground wiring.
Standalone transmitter
The transmitter can be marketed as a standalone Receptacle Analyzer, to check receptacle wiring, and perform AFCI and GFCI tests. Or it can be bundled with the receiver unit. Can be adapted for 220 VAC, 50 Hz, international receptacles.
Receiver unit
The handheld receiver detects the unique signals generated by the transmitter. The user scans the receiver over the circuit breaker panel to identify which circuit breaker feeds the receptacle being tested. The receiver also contains a non-contact voltage sensor for detecting live AC wiring.
